Track Record:

Joe has a history of uncovering truths that need to be told. The results of his investigative reporting include:

  • A major school district facing $2.2 million in lawsuits after he exposed a teacher who, despite being disciplined for alleged child abuse, received multiple transfers and raises.

  • State-issued fines amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars against four insurance companies, following his in-depth investigation into a family's struggle for coverage of autism care.

  • Substantial settlements in wrongful death cases within jails, where his ability to build trust and rapport with victims and families has brought essential stories to light.

  • Helping free a wrongfully imprisoned American citizen in Mexico.

Joe worked as a television news producer and writer for eight-and-a-half years at KTTV and KABC in Los Angeles before making the leap to on-air reporting. He worked as a reporter at WEAR in Pensacola, Florida for more than two years before joining KATU as an investigative reporter and fill-in anchor for five-and-a-half years in his hometown of Portland, Oregon.

Prior to becoming a broadcaster, Joe and his writing partner sold a screenplay

Since leaving television news, Joe has applied those same skills to legal video production, helping attorneys tell their clients' stories at mediation and beyond.

Testimonials:

Lillian Govus
Communications Director

"As a comms director, it can make you very uneasy when an investigative reporter calls, but I can say it was a pleasure to work with Joe - he’s an all-around pro. He is a thorough and responsive storyteller, and his ability to grasp the big picture sets him apart from other reporters I’ve worked with."

Katherine Rodela, Ph.D., Education Professor

"Because of Joe's reporting and investigative journalism, the community at our school was able to get the district and school leadership to respond to a pattern of disrespectful behavior targeted towards vulnerable students and families."

Kim Sordyl
Civil Rights Employment Law Attorney

“His work and storytelling led to positive change in our school district. I’m confident that those skills will lead to great outcomes for lawyers and law firms looking to deliver justice for their clients via storytelling.”
